Transitions

Over the course of painting a series, my interest begins to wane to the point at which it is necessary to move on.  Unless I have happened upon something else that has potential for another series, there may ensue a period of searching.  

And so it was after I completed the mall series. There was nothing remotely on the horizon.  Following the dictum of a former professor “to just do something”, I cut up some paintings I was not happy with and reassembled them into an odd shape.

This was such a radical departure from my previous work that I felt the need for a reasonable explanation... and so the Explanations series was launched.
